Mda's Covid-19 Safety Precautions

Safety Precautions for Fall

Updated as of 9/24/2020

We are SO excited to have you back in our studio! We’ve prepared the following information to help you have a safe, happy, and healthy return to classes. Please review before your first class for the smoothest transition back to classes. We look forward to dancing with you soon!

We are committed to the health and well-being of our employees, dancers, and families, as well as the safety of our studio. As we reopen for our summer camps and intensives, we are complying with all requirements and best practices associated with our studio in order to move forward in a safe and efficient manner. Our reopening will feature new Safety Precautions as followed by the CDC guidelines.

The following Safety Precautions will be taken:

  • Students and Staff
    • Before Arrival:
      • Wellness Checks - Students and Staff must stay home if they, or a member of their household, have a fever or shows symptoms. Parents are asked to not send their child to class if they or a member of their household, have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
      • Attire - Dancers should be dressed and ready for class before arrival to MDA.
    • Arrival:
      • Daily Temperature Checks - An MDA Staff member will take temperatures before any person enters the building. Any person with a temperature over 100.4 degrees fahrenheit will not be admitted into the building.
      • Mask Requirement - Any person entering the building must wear a facemask or other cloth face covering that completely covers the nose and mouth.
      • Social Distancing - Please practice social distancing of 6 feet of greater while outside the building.
    • Inside the Building:
      • Lobby - There will be no congregating in the lobby. Please practice social distancing of 6 feet or greater.
    • Entering the Dance Studio:
      • Entrances/Exits - Students will utilize the main entrance door and Studio 3 doors  for entering and exiting the building.
      • Sanitize - Hand sanitizers are mounted outside of each studio door. Students and Staff must sanitize prior to entering the studio.
      • Masks - Masks must be worn by all who enter the dance studio.
    • While Taking Class:
      • Social Distancing - Spots for each dancer have been taped off on the floor. Each spot is 6 feet apart or more to ensure dancers follow proper social distancing from one another.
      • Masks - Masks are required for both Students and Staff, as tolerated, while dancing.
      • Breaks - Teachers will give multiple breaks for water and fresh air mask breaks while maintaining social distance from one another.
    • Other:
      • Bathroom Use - Students are encouraged to use the bathroom before coming to class. Bathrooms will be limited to emergencies and will be cleaned frequently. Students must use the designated bathroom located in their studio.
      • Attire - Bathrooms will be used for toileting only, but not for changing clothes. Dancers should come dressed for class.
      • Meals & Snack Breaks (for Camps, Intensives, Etc.) - Students will have meal and/or snack breaks outside and will maintain social distancing of 6 feet. Instructors will stay with students and will pick a location outside in the shade.

  • Parents and Other Visitors
    • Masks - Masks are required during pick up and drop off.
    • Entering the Building - If you need to enter our building, the same “Arrival” safety precautions will apply as above for Staff and Students (Daily Temperature Checks, Mask Requirement, Social Distancing).
    • Lobby - Parents will not be allowed to congregate or wait in the lobby. Park benches are set up outside the building if you would like to wait for the duration of your child’s class.

  • Facility & Curricular Adjustments
    • Contact - Curricular adjustments have been made to eliminate the use of props and any hand-holding.
    • Class Sizes - Classes are limited to a capacity of 15 students (in Studios 1 & 3) or 13 students (in Studio 2) to allow for proper social distancing.
    • Social Distancing - Each studio has a square grid for dancers to have their own personal space while dancing. All spots are 6-feet apart on all sides.

  • Frequent Hand Hygiene
    • Sanitation Stations - Hand sanitizers are available throughout the studio, including all MDA studio entry doors, inside of every classroom, and in the lobby.
    • Staff - Staff will wash and/or sanitize their hands before and after every class.
    • Students - Students are encouraged to wash hands and/or sanitize before and after every class.

  • Enhanced Cleaning Procedures
    • Commonly Touched Surfaces and High Traffic Areas - Surfaces such as doors, barres, floors, stereos, and bathrooms will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected throughout the day.

We are dedicated to creating a safe environment for all MDA families and employees. We are so grateful for your patience, support, and positivity over these past few months. Thank you, again!
