Join us in celebrating our 41st season of dance!
At Monroe Dance Academy, our mission is to deliver high caliber dance instruction in a rigorous, nurturing, and positive environment. Our focus is to not only form world class dancers who can compete at their highest level but to develop lifelong skills and character through the art of dance.
A North Carolina native, Jayme Wappel is a dancer, actor, singer, and educator. Growing up, she trained in all genres of dance under the direction of Christy Curtis at CC & Company Dance Complex, her second home. Jayme’s interest in musical theatre began towards the end of her high school career after choreographing Oklahoma! for Cardinal Gibbons High School's theatre department.
Jayme continued to study dance and theatre at Point Park University. While there, she received the faculty-selected Freshman of the Year award and scholarship, performed in both dance concerts and musicals, and graduated with her Bachelor of Arts after only three years.
Since beginning her professional performance career, Jayme has been seen on a First National Tour, Off-Broadway, in multiple regional productions, in numerous events and gigs throughout the tri-state area, and even on a cruise ship as an aerialist.
In addition to performing, Jayme enjoys teaching and choreographing. As an educator, she teaches for dance studios and theatre programs across the nation, coaches high school seniors in preparation for college auditions, judges for multiple dance competitions, and choreographs for dance teams, dance studios, and both recreational and professional theatrical productions.
Jayme currently resides in Milford, Connecticut with her husband, Clancy. Her interests include global travel, baking, taking barre class, photography, dogs, pineapples, and, of course, chipmunks. She loves to roller skate, kayak, and hike: always on the lookout for a new adventure to be had. As a person whose entire life revolves around expression through her body, she is also currently working to learn American Sign Language.
