The progress of each student is monitored continuously throughout the year by the faculty and School Director, who reserves the right to change a student’s level when appropriate. A student may be placed in a different level when changing between dance styles or disciplines. Students do not automatically advance to the next level at the end of each year.
Placement predominantly on ability and secondly on age. A student may be with students slightly younger and/or slightly older. A student that is placed improperly, not having a grasped and implemented basic technique, is being set up to fail. Arts education is based as much on the application as it is on the comprehension. It is not enough to merely understand the concepts but to learn to apply them both physically and mentally through continued repetition.
