Monroe Dance Academy has been offering dance education to students in SW Connecticut for over thirty years.

We strive to endow self confidence, composure, poise, and presence. These are the characteristics of success for our students along with a life-long appreciation of dance.

We offer the best dance education possible, presented by some of the finest mentors, leaders and professional faculty who are proper role models. Discipline, hard work and professionalism are the personal commitments expected of each student.

We offer a variety of classes to children and adults including Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Break Dancing, Musical Theater, Acrobatics.

An annual school performance gives students the opportunity to demonstrate their hard-earned achievements on stage. The performance is offered to the public, and allows exposure to new choreography, rehearsals (including technical and dress rehearsals), and multiple performance scheduling.

MDC, the official performing dance company of Monroe Dance Academy, provides qualified students a variety of additional opportunities to perform in convalescent homes, senior citizen centers, dance festivals, regional charities, and benefits. Preparation for a higher education in dance, and ultimately the pursuit of a dance career, are a main focus of MDC. Master classes with professional artists are encouraged to expand technical skills. Beyond learning dance technique, the students are taught to understand the importance of the performing arts.

MDA boasts graduates of the school working professionally in dance and theater.  Often these former students come back to the school to share their expertise and experiences with current students.

“We are always excited to bring professional dancers, actors, and singers to Monroe Dance Academy because it’s important for our students to interact with people who are making a living following their dream,” said Judy Abbatiello, MDA’s founder.
